Animal Rescue
Team, a non-profit civilian organization in charge of Taiwan's local
stray dog rescue missions for more than ten years, is now looking for
passengers heading for San Francisco to join a cross-ocean adoption
plan baptized "Journey of Love."
Since
the local people take little interest in adopting dogs with disabilities
or injuries from car accidents or mistreatments, wounded dogs are often
doomed to stay in the pound, stray on the streets or remain homeless
all their life long. As a result, Animal Rescue Team began to contact
several animal-care organizations in the United States and to post touching
stories with photos of the miserable creatures on their websites.
To our surprise, a great number of positive responses were received
to show willingness of adopting our dogs, and thanks to the efforts
made by the volunteer workers, more than 20 homeless dogs has found
their new owners in the foreign country.
Although the organizations in the United States are willing to accept
dogs in Taiwan, it does not necessarily mean that the injured dogs can
start their journey. We still need passengers willing to take the dog
as their checked-in luggage, so that the dogs can fly across the ocean
to their new territory. Maggie Chen, another volunteer in our team,
has written over 100 touching e-mails across the continent to help find
new homes for a dozen of dogs island wide.
Dubbed "Journey of Love," the cross-ocean adoption plan is
now advertised over the Internet and newspapers, looking for passengers
heading for San Francisco to take the dogs away from pains and sorrows.
The travelers need not pay a single cent but are only required to tell
us their designated flight number, departure date and time, so that
we will have enough time to arrange the journey in advance. All the
quarantine documents and vaccination proofs will be well prepared by
the volunteers, while the dogs will be sent to the airport by the team
members and will be picked up by the volunteer in San Francisco right
after airport customs. As a result, the journey is to bring no trouble
to the volunteer passengers.
In order to make sure that each life is respected and well adapted in
the other hemisphere, volunteer workers always write e-mails to contact
the families in the United States. In return, a number of lovely photos
on which our dogs are treasured and cherished by their new owners are
sent back as the best rewards to us.
If you are a prospective traveler scheduled to head for San Francisco,
please do not hesitate to join the plan, so that more miserable dogs
are able to find their new homes thousands of miles away. Please take
a look at the details of the journey listed below, and feel free to
write to us if you want to know more about the plan.
